Memoria, memoria histórica e historiografía. Precisión conceptual y uso por el historiador

Abstract

En el presente artículo se analiza la relación múltiple y compleja que ha sido destacada siempre entre Memoria e Historia, entre los contenidos del recuerdo y la práctica historiográfica. La memoria y las memorias son hoy un lugar común de la reflexión social y son el terreno, en cuanto dimensión colectiva, en el que se libra una batalla ideológica de notable calado. También se han convertido, en consecuencia, en el objeto de un renovado interés por parte de ciertas ciencias sociales, la antropología, la psicología y, particularmente, la historiografía. Vivimos, se ha dicho, el «tiempo de la memoria».

This article examines the multiple and complex relationship that has long been noted between Memory and History, that is, between people's recollections and the practice of historical writing. Memory and memories are a meeting ground for social refl ection, a collective dimension where a signifi cant ideological battle is currently being waged. Consequently, they have also become the object of renewed interest on the part of certain social sciences, namely anthropology, psychology and, in particular, historiography. It has been said that we live in an «era of memory».
