| The impossibility to protect oneself from the natural and weather disasters, joined to the fear that they produced, positioned the spiritual solutions as the most employed practises against these enemies. The domain of the various ceremonies of the Catholic Church, and everything they conveyed, became a new focus of conflict with the civil power. The present study searches for the way in which people had access to the mentioned remedies, the typology and the pre-eminence shocks they generated in the town of Elche, during the 18th century. |
