Los valores sociales en el perfil profesional del trabajador social: un análisis con estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

El Trabajo Social tiene por objeto incrementar el nivel de bienestar social de la población con necesidades. El perfil profesional del trabajador social del siglo XXI queda definido por unos rasgos propios que le caracterizan frente a otras profesiones, entre los que se encuentran una serie de valores necesarios para llevar a cabo su tarea profesional. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la estructura de valores de los estudiantes de Trabajo Social para comprobar cuáles son los que actúan diferencialmente frente a otras profesiones. La muestra de estudio está formada por 523 estudiantes universitarios de la UCLM (211 estudiantes de Trabajo Social), con una media de edad de 21.43 años. Los estudiantes completaron el Schwartz Value Survey (Schwartz, 1992, 2005; Schwartz, Sagiv y Boehnke, 2000). Los ANOVAS confirman que existen diferencias en los valores en función del grado que están realizando los estudiantes, pudiendo definir el perfil de los trabajadores sociales a partir de los valores de benevolencia, universalismo, autodirección y conformidad. Los resultados son discutidos en relación con las competencias y la formación de los trabajadores sociales.

One of the objectives of social work is to increase the level of social welfare of the needy sectors of the population. The professional profile of social workers in the twenty-first century is defined by specific features that characterize them in contrast to other professions. Among these, there are a series of values necessary to carry out this professional role. The objective of this study is to analyze the structure of values among the students of Social Work to verify which values stand out in contrast to other professions. The sample is formed by 523 university students of UCLM (211 students of Social Work), whose average age is 21.43. The students completed the Schwartz Value Survey (Schwartz, 1992, 2005; Schwartz, Sagiv, & Boehnke, 2000). The Anovas confirm that there are differences in the values depending on the academic degree the students are studying. Thus, the profile of social workers can be defined based on the values of benevolence, universalism, self-management and conformity. The results are discussed in relation to the academic skills and the training of social workers.
