| The stories Tela de sevoya by Myriam Moscona (Mexico) and Poste restante by Cynthia Rimsky (Chile) explore the Jewish diaspora. They inquire, from transnational perspectives, about contentious identities. Their journeys are returns on behalf of others, their parents and grandparents. We encounter a wandering narrative concerned with symbolic restitution, imbued with ethical and political issues regarding otherness. They draw new lines between the inside and outside of territories, revisiting migrations in a narrative focused on restitution. I am interested in reading the cultural memories of migrants and the distances and ruptures between territories and languages. The question of genealogies moves away from essentialist conceptions, and the origin can be seen as a source of stories. The fragments form an archive full of gaps, where images and words are as significant as the silences. |
