| This paper is aimed at analysing the closed penitentiary regime in Spain. It has been partially fostered by the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the passage of the first democratic prison act (LOGP for their initials in Spanish). From this starting point, this article delves into the reasons driving the creation of the closed prison regime, as well as the arguments that have legitimised it, impeding its abrogation, over this four-decade period. |
