La gestión del poder en torno a la cuestión de los animales. Aportaciones desde las Ciencias Sociales

Abstract

Este artículo plantea la necesidad de fortalecer una postura crítica por parte de las Ciencias Sociales con respecto al trato a los animales, a partir de la observación de una realidad pretendidamente invisible: el ejercicio extremo de poder por parte de los seres humanos manifiesto en formas estructurales de explotación y abuso de los animales. Nuestra hipótesis es que las sociedades humanas reflejan lo que llamamos una asunción disfuncional del poder, que lleva a reducir artificialmente a los animales no humanos a objetos de abuso y consumo, impidiendo al mismo tiempo un desarrollo sano de la vida humana.

This paper raises the necessity for Social Science to strengthen a critical stance as regards animals treatment, from the observation of an allegedly invisible reality: the extreme exercise of power by human beings expressed in estructural ways of animals exploitation and abuse. Our hypothesis is that human societies reflect what we call a disfunctional assumption of power, that leads to reduce artificially no human life to an object of abuse and consumption, impeding at the same time a healthy development of human life.
