Versos a medianoche en el Café Varela

Abstract

El artículo da noticia de los recitales poéticos que se celebraban en el madrileño Café Varela durante la década de los cincuenta. Se parte del testimonio aportado por Los ilusos (1958), una novela de Rafael Azcona que refleja aquel ambiente con un sentido crítico y humor que se extiende a los protagonistas, a medio camino entre la picaresca y la bohemia.

This article focuses on the poetry recitals which were held at the Café Varela in Madrid in the 1950’s. Rafael Azcona describes those recitals in the novel Los ilusos (1958) with a critical eye and humour which encompasses the protagonists halfway between the picaresque and the bohemian.
