Recuerdos de futuras Promesas naturales, o cómo vivir bajo los condicionamientos de una resiliencia deshumanizante

Abstract

El artículo pone foco en la novela distópica Promesas naturales (2006) de Oliverio Coelho y en el modo en que la protagonista encauza su proceso de resiliencia (Evans y Reid), entre otros factores, articulado por un estado totalitario y deshumanizante; también, en la forma en que el sistema produce seres monstruosos. Si bien el relato no hace referencia explícita a espacios identificables, algunas marcas socioculturales y lingüísticas dan lugar a que se pueda interpretar como una alegoría de cómo hubiese sido el presente y futuro de algunos países de la región sur de América Latina (Argentina, Chile y Uruguay) si los procesos dictatoriales (durante los años 70 y 80 del siglo pasado) se hubieran prolongado por generaciones.

The article focuses on the dystopian novel Promesas naturales (2006), by Oliverio Coelho, and how the protagonist channels her resilience process (Evans and Reid), which is articulated by a totalitarian and dehumanizing state, as well as in the way the system produces monstrous beings. Although the story does not make explicit reference to identifiable spaces, there are some sociocultural and linguistic marks that can be interpreted as an allegory of how the present and future of some South American countries (such as Argentina, Chile and Uruguay) would have been like, if the dictatorial processes during the 70s and 80s of the last century had lasted for generations.
