Territorio y turismo en la Costa Cálida. Del consumo voraz al tsunami no costero, 1960-2020. Evolución y dinámicas de las formas del turismo en la Región de Murcia

Abstract

La construcción del litoral mediterráneo en España ha estado ligada al desarrollo económico del país en base al turismo llamado ‘de sol y playa’. La transformación de los espacios demandados para este turismo, el envejecimiento de los nodos más antiguos y los efectos de la burbuja inmobiliaria sobre el litoral han puesto el foco de atención sobre las formas de este espacio turístico. Los proyectos urbanos del espacio turístico litoral tienen unas características morfológicas propias, que los diferencian de otros tejidos urbanos. En este trabajo se analiza la metamorfosis de las formas urbanas empleadas en los nodos turísticos del litoral de la Región de Murcia y se exponen las características de los distintos entornos territoriales, consecuencia de una construcción fragmentada. Por último, se comparan las cargas que sobre el territorio tiene el espacio turístico como herramienta para contrastar la hipótesis de que estos proyectos han ido perdiendo progresivamente su relación con el paisaje, a la vez que provocan un fuerte consumo de sus recursos. Para ello, se han empleado distintas fuentes, principalmente la cartografía catastral y ortofotografías aéreas. Como resultado, se han podido cuantificar variables representativas de la carga sobre el territorio, con 546 m2 de superficie urbanizada por metro lineal de playa y 222 m2 de superficie construida.

The construction of the Mediterranean coast in Spain has been linked to the economic development of the country based on tourism called ‘of sun and beach’. The transformation of the spaces demanded for this tourism, the aging of the oldest nodes and the effects of the real estate bubble on the coast have put the spotlight on the forms of this tourist space. The urban projects of the coastal tourism space have their own morphological characteristics, which differentiate them from other urban fabrics. In this work the metamorphosis of the urban forms used in the tourist nodes of the coast of the Region of Murcia is analysed and the characteristics of the different territorial environments are exposed, as a consequence of their fragmented construction. Finally, the burdens on the territory of the tourist space are compared as a tool to test the hypothesis that these projects have progressively lost their relationship with the landscape, at the same time that they cause a strong consumption of their resources. For this, different data have been used, mainly cadastral cartography and aerial orthophotos. As a result, it has been possible to quantify representative variables of the load on the territory, with 546 m2 of urbanized surface per linear meter of beach and 222 m2 of built surface.
