El vacío latente de la Bienal de Venecia 2012-2018. Del vacío real de SMAO-LAB al vacío virtual de Becoming

Abstract: 
En el Pabellón de España de la Bienal de Arquitectura de Venecia de 2012, suspendida de una de las cerchas del ala este, flota una cúpula blanca. El espacio contenido entre ella y el plano del suelo es un vacío que habla de materia construida; en otro lugar, pero construida. En 2018 la exposición del Pabellón de España expresa otro vacío; parece que la situación socioeconómica del país ha hecho surgir una acepción nueva. La materia es en este caso la que ha sido contenida durante diez años, y encontramos un vacío de otro cariz, el del hormigón latente. Este artículo establece una comparativa entre las exposiciones del pabellón de Venecia 2012 y 2018 a través del concepto de vacío, haciendo también referencia a la de 2016 por su estrecha relación con la inmediatamente posterior. Se realiza, así, un recorrido que arranca del carácter fenomenológico del vacío construido por SMAO-lab, a otro tipo de vacío claramente marcado por el contexto de la crisis española, llegando a remover las bases de la disciplina arquitectónica desde la docencia.
In the Pavilion of Spain of the Biennial of Architecture of Venice of 2012, suspended from one of the trusses of the east wing, floats a white dome. The space that remains between it and the floor plan is a void that speaks of constructed matter; in another place, but built. In 2018 the exhibition of the Spanish Pavilion is located in the same continent, but the void has another content; It seems that the socioeconomic situation of the country has led to the same word towards a new meaning. Matter is in this case that which has been contained for ten years, and expresses a void of another aspect, that of latent concrete. This article establishes a comparison between the exhibitions of the Venice pavilion 2012 and the one in 2018, through the concept of emptiness. It also refers to the following exhibition, in 2016, because of its close relationship with the previous one. In consequence, there is a journey that begins with the phenomenological character of that void built by SMAO-lab, to another emptiness that has the stamp of the context of the financial crisis. It all dilutes the basis of architectural discipline from the foundations of academia.
