Abstract: 
This article has a twofold purpose: firstly to show the very large number of figurative terms - especially metaphors - which are currently used in drug-users' slang, and how they relate one to another; secondly to bring out both the denotative and connotative differences of certain Spanish terms compared to other languages, and to give the social and contextual reasons for this. Certain terms, anglicisms in particular, have positive connotations when compared with their English equivalents.
