This typically results in broadening the duration of the pulse and can be a limiting factor in cases where short pulses are required, for instance in radar applications for high resolution sensing. This problem is addressed here by manipulating the dispersion relation of the waveguides introducing periodic loads. By means of an EBG type of waveguide, here we demonstrate the reduction of the pulse spreading as it propagates along this kind of waveguide, which is associated with an increase in the group delay.
