The work of the poet Joan Treminyo from Alicante, whose life took place between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, had little impact in later centuries. However, his poetry is not without interest and deserves the attention of specialists. His poems appear in seven books published between 1612 and 1624, although there is evidence that he was already writing poetry at the end of the 16th century. His work, of a clearly religious nature and always written in Latin, is part of the intellectual environment born within the bishopric of Orihuela between 16th and 17th centuries.
