Abstract: 
Esta investigación analiza tipos, temáticas, fuentes de difusión y desmentidos de los bulos locales, registrados en la provincia de Alicante entre febrero y noviembre de 2020. Se propone una metodología mixta que combina la detección y clasificación de los bulos locales y su interpretación cuantitativa con el análisis cualitativo. Los bulos fueron difundidos mediante mensajería instantánea y redes sociales y, puntualmente, por fuentes oficiales. Contrariamente a la idea de que los bulos locales son rumores sin fundamento, las conclusiones demuestran su consistencia y capacidad para extrapolar al ámbito local otros bulos, incluso suplantando fuentes fiables. Los desmentidos suelen ser competentes al producirse tempranamente, aunque a menudo por cauces distintos al original. No obstante, existe una limitación metodológica inherente a la identificación de bulos: no sabemos cuántos bulos quedan sin desmentir, algo que resalta la importancia de la implantación de sistemas de fact checking locales.
This research analyses the type, theme, source of dissemination and debunking of local fake news, specifically it categorizes, registered in the province of Alicante from February to November 2020. A mixed methodology is proposed that combines the detection and classification of local hoaxes and their quantitative interpretation with their qualitative analysis. Most hoaxes were disseminated through messaging app and social networks and an official source. Contrary to the idea that local hoaxes are unsubstantiated rumours, the conclusions point to their consistency to extrapolate to the local sphere other hoaxes, sometimes even supplanting a reliable source. Debunking are usually competent when occurring early, although often hoaxes were debunked through different channels. However, a methodological limitation inherent in this study is the identification of hoaxes by denials: we do not know how many hoaxes remain undeniably which highlights the importance of the implementation of local fact checking systems.
