Abstract: 
El trabajo trata de explorar la utilidad de la historia social de la política, analizando los rasgos y estrategias de diversos sectores de la nobleza en el contexto del cambio social a partir de la revolución liberal. Se observan tipos diversos de caciquismo en cuanto a sus rasgos sociales y sus raíces políticas, su relación con el poder económico propio y la injerencia del Estado en las rivalidades políticas. Los sectores populares podían hacer valer sus aspiraciones a partir de estas rivalídades entre diversas oligarquías.
This article seeks to explore the usefulness of a social history of politics. The authors study the different heritage and political strategies of several noble families against the background of social change during the Spanish liberal revolution. The article describes particular types of Caciquismin terms of their social background and their political roots, their dependence on the economic power, and the Government's involvement in political rivalries. Popular classes would get their inspiration from the political rivalries between different oligarchies.
