Abstract: 
Este número de América sin nombre pretende explorar algunos de los elementos que se convierten en resortes fundamentales y en líneas de fuerza de las figuraciones del monstruo imposible en diversas modalidades de la narrativa no mimética latinoamericana de las últimas décadas (1980-2021). Para ello, consideramos fructífero combinar perspectivas panorámicas e históricas y comparatistas con análisis individuales de obras de escritores y de escritoras de diversas generaciones que, en los últimos cuarenta años, enfocan al monstruo desde las estéticas ajenas al realismo. En concreto, centramos la atención en la significación de variados resortes temáticos, estructurales, cognoscitivos o representativos que recorren la monstruosidad en la narrativa de Chile, México, Perú, Argentina, Cuba y Ecuador. Las calas desarrolladas en las contribuciones del monográfico nos permiten constatar la capacidad subversiva e ideológica del monstruo insólito en la narrativa latinoamericana reciente y la lectura crítica de la realidad que este pone de relieve.
This issue of América sin nombre plans to explore some of the components turned into essential resources and lines of strength in the construction of the impossible monster in several modalities of non-mimetic Latin American narratives in the last decades (1980-2021). To that end, we consider that it is fruitful to combine panoramic, historic and comparative perspectives with individual analysis of the work of writers from diverse generations that, in the last forty years, have approached the figure of the monster from literary aesthetics which are external to realism. Specifically, we centre our attention on the meaning of various thematic, structural, cognitive and/or representative elements which go through monstrosity in the narrative of Chile, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Cuba, and Ecuador. The studies developed in the present monograph allow to confirm the subversive and ideological capacity of the unusual monster in the recent Latin American narrative and the critical reading this monster emphasises.
