Cambio climático y actividad turística en los espacios urbanos del interior de España: impactos sobre el modelo de aptitud climático-turística de León, Granada y Madrid

Abstract

El turismo urbano —y en general el turismo de interior— como actividad económica que en cierta medida depende del recurso clima, se va a ver seriamente afectado por el cambio climático. Por lo tanto, el impacto sobre la actividad turística en las ciudades va a ser transcendental por el valor socioeconómico que ocupa esta actividad. Desde este estudio se propone analizar y caracterizar los modelos de aptitud climático-turística actual y futuros de tres ciudades, donde la actividad turística ocupa un puesto relevante y que constituyen claros ejemplos del turismo urbano en España: León, Granada y Madrid. En el análisis del potencial climático-turístico abordamos un tema crucial para la planificación del turismo de interior en España: desarrollar previsiones sobre el grado del impacto del cambio climático sobre la actividad turística futura. Para realizar este análisis se implementa el Índice Climático-Turístico de Interior (ICTI) (Millán, 2017) y se plantean dos escenarios a corto y medio plazo: 2030 y 2040. Los resultados indican que el cambio climático va a incorporar importantes modificaciones en los modelos climático-turísticos de los espacios urbanos de interior. Estas modificaciones van a afectar a la distribución temporal de las aptitudes de confort, planteando nuevos desafíos y oportunidades a la actividad turística en estos espacios urbanos.

Urban and interior tourism are economic activities that are highly dependent on climate. Spain will be seriously affected by climate change. Therefore, understanding the impact of climate change on tourism in cities is crucial because of its socioeconomic value. This study aims to analyse and describe current and tourist-climate aptitude models in three cities that are representative of urban tourism in Spain: Leon, Granada, and Madrid. In the analysis of climate-tourism potential, we tackle a crucial issue for planning inland tourism in Spain: forecasting the degree of impact of climate change on tourism. For this analysis, an inland climate-tourism index (ICTI) (Millán, 2017) is implemented and two scenarios are proposed for the medium and long term: 2030 and 2040. The results indicate that climate change will mean important changes in the climate-tourism models of cities in the interior of Spain. These modifications will affect the temporary distribution of comfort aptitudes, and present new challenges and opportunities for tourism in these cities.
