Comportamiento hidrológico del Arroyo Claromecó, Argentina

Abstract

El arroyo Claromecó, ubicado en el sudeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires, República Argentina, recorre un área de gran actividad agropecuaria. Se trata de un arroyo de llanura, con régimen hídrico permanente. Para estudiar el comportamiento hidrológico del arroyo se aforó directa e indirectamente el curso de agua durante cinco años, empleando un molinete hidrométrico y un limnígrafo freatígrafo. El caudal medio del arroyo Claromecó es de 0,87 m3/s. Los máximos caudales se presentan durante la primavera en el mes de octubre, coincidente con el mes lluvioso del año. Los meses de estiaje de este arroyo se producen durante el invierno en junio y julio. El caudal de este arroyo es reducido así como la cantidad de sedimento que arrastra. El tiempo de ascenso en el hidrograma típico de la cuenca presenta una duración de 5 días, la curva de descenso ronda los 10 días y el agotamiento se produce después de 12 días de permanencia en el área de estudio. La irregularidad que presentan los caudales anuales obedece principalmente a la variabilidad de las precipitaciones mensuales. El régimen fluvial del arroyo Claromecó es de tipo pluvial oceánico, característico de áreas de llanuras.

Flowing across an important farming area, and located in the south-east of the Argentinian provice of Buenos Aires, the Claromeco Creek is a plain stream with a permanent water pattern. The behaviour of its waters was gauged over a period of five years by means of a current meter and a phreatic limnimeter. The average water level is about 0.87 m3/s and the maximum height is reached in October, which is the rainiest month of the year. Meanwhile, the lowest levels are seen in the winter months of June and July, when both the volume of the waters and the amount of sediment are small. The results of the study were recorded on a hydrograph which shows an upward curve lasting five days, a downward curve lasting 10 days and a levelling occurring around the 12th day after the beginning of the fieldwork. The irregular water levels along the year have to do mainly with the variability in the annual rainfall. The regime presented by the creek is typical of the plains and can be described as pluvial oceanic.
