Estrategias de integración fónica de los anglicismos en un corpus de español hablado: asimilación, compromiso y efectos estructurales

Abstract

Phonic integration of Anglicisms in European Spanish has always lacked a proper methodological approach, as current studies have always been based on purely written data. Because of that, this article aims to describe properly serveral mechanisms of phonic integration, on the basis of an entirely oral corpus provided by a research group on colloquial Spanish. In particular, phonic integration of Anglicisms can be regarded as a constant struggle between two main trends: on the one hand, assimilation to phonic patterns of Spanish language, by means of some regular mechanisms; on the other, minimal assimilation for the sake of loyalty to a prestigious English model, the consequences of which are cases of phonemic redistribution all over the Spanish phonemic system. Nevertheless, by the side of both main trends, a midway assimilation or compromise replica can also be noticed.
