Realidades antropológicas en distintos contextos: reflexiones sobre el tema de la salud mental

Abstract

En este artículo, los autores escriben sobre cómo la Antropología, mediante la comparación entre contextos culturales diferentes, hace que nos cuestionemos como verdaderos muchos dogmas, entre ellos, qué es la salud, la enfermedad, y, en concreto, reflexionan sobre qué se entiende por Salud Mental. Además, discuten cómo la Antropología puede ayudar a relanzar un concepto de asistencia integral, humanista, capaz de integrar las realidades sociales y culturales, en contrapartida al modelo positivista de entender la realidad humana.

In the present paper, the authors consider how Anthropology - by means of comparing different cultural contexts - could make us change our vision of some truths or dogmas such as health and illness, and could allow us to observe above all the real meaning of mental health. The authors discuss as well the various ways in which Anthropology could help in launching the concept of an holistic care, a humanistic concept capable of integrating social and cultural realities far from the positivist pattern of understanding the human being.
