Liderazgo en edificación y áreas geográficas en la España de los noventa

Abstract

Theory and empirical research show how building cycle behaviour has substantial differences within a country among different geographical areas. There are evidence that find the existence of a leadership of concrete areas in development activity, and how influence is transmitted to the rest of the country as a locomotive effect in residential construction. This means that aggregate building cycle in a State could depend strongly from particular areas’ cycles. This research follow this focus and try to detect relations between geographic areas’ intensity of housing construction and how some of them are related in development process, extending their influence to the rest of the land. The paper analyses this process applied to Spain during nineteen, using starts housing desegregated information for Regional Areas, for a wide period of time, and applying cointegration methodology to find what areas are been leading building activity.
