La canción revolucionaria argelina como acto martirial: el caso de Ali Maâchi

Abstract

Pequeña nota en la que se reivindica la figura de Ali Maâchi en la construcción de una música destinada a exaltar los anhelos revolucionarios de la población argelina durante el proceso de independencia contra Francia, entre 1954 y 1962. Ejecutado públicamente por el ejército francés en la plaza central de Tiaret en 1958, su martirio vino a sumarse al sentimiento transmitido en su música, lo que aumentó el simbolismo de su figura y la capacidad movilizadora de sus melodías. En esta nota tratamos de expresar con palabras el sentimiento que su música despertaba, y la repercusión que para la nación actual sigue teniendo su legado, con las convocatorias de los premios Ali Maâchi de la Presidencia de la República para jóvenes creadores.

This note is a short vindication of Ali Maâchi in the musical construction of the Algerian Revolution. It was a music destined to exalt the revolutionary yearnings of the Algerian population during the independence process against France, between 1954 and 1962. Executed publicly by the French army in the central square of Tiaret in 1958, his martyrdom added more sense to the sentiment transmitted in his music, which increased the symbolism of his figure and the mobilizing capacity of his melodies. In this note we try to express in words the feeling that his music aroused, and the repercussion that his legacy continues to have for the nation today, with the Ali Maâchi Awards of the Presidency of the Republic for Young Artists.
