Resumen: | The aim of this research is to assess the level of competence in Art History among students in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate education. The specific competencies related to heritage and artistic themes outlined in the curriculum for Geography and History subjects are documented in legislation. The employed scientific method has been quantitative-descriptive, involving a sample of 55 par ticipants. The conducted research gathered information through a questionnaire distributed among students at a public Secondary Education Institute in the province of Alicante, across the first year of ESO, third year of ESO, and second year of Artistic Baccalaureate during the academic year 2021-22. The designed instrument was validated by professors from the University of Alicante and secondary education professionals. It includes queries aimed at assessing whether students recall the knowledge acquired during Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and ESO, as well as their ability to identify national-level pictorial works, sculptures, or museums. The obtained results reveal a lack of information retention regarding art history among students. Through the gathered information, the objective is to address this deficiency within classroom plans and the pedagogical criteria of the Geography and History department. |
