(Re)presentar un paisaje presente: sobre la condición envolvente de la arquitectura

Abstract

Este texto reflexiona sobre la condición circunstante de la arquitectura, la cual procede acogiendo y envolviendo en una concavidad conformada creando límites, separando un dentro del afuera, segregando un mundo a nuestra medida en el que vivimos, nos movemos y existimos. La configuración del paisaje opera justo al contrario, es punto de vista y horizonte, pone distancia para la contemplación y la fruición estética que de ella deriva. Arquitectura y paisaje se contraponen y se enmarcan recíprocamente. Frente al belvedere que es la Rotonda de Palladio, el Rectorado de la Universidad de Alicante de Siza nos aísla del campus al que, sin embargo, corresponde instalando una galería en el hall que nos recibe y nos invita a circular entre cuadros paisajísticos. De ahí la pertinencia de que acogiera la exposición que conmemoró el 40º aniversario de la institución y que, representándolo, acercaba un paisaje del que Siza nos había alejado.

This text reflects on the surrounding condition of architecture, which proceeds by welcoming and wrapping in o concavity formed creating limits, separating an inside from the outside, segregating a world to our measure in which we live, move and exist. The configuration of the landscape operates just the opposite, it is a point of view and a horizon, it places distance for contemplation and the aesthetic enjoyment that derives from it. Architecture and landscape oppose and frame each other. In front of the belvedere that is the Rotunda of Palladio, the Siza's Rectorate of the University of Alicante isolates us from the campus to which, however, it corresponds by installing a gallery in the hall that welcomes and invites us to circulate among landscape paintings. Hence the relevance of hosting the exhibition that commemorated the 40th anniversary of the institution and that, representing it, brought a landscape closer from which Siza had kept us away.
