La figura del director de orquesta en Mozart in the jungle: realidad o ficción

Abstract

Mozart in the Jungle (2014-2018) es una serie de televisión cuya trama se desarrolla en el contexto de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Nueva York dirigida por Rodrigo de Sousa, inspirado en Gustavo Dudamel. Este estudio tiene como objetivo determinar el grado de realidad o ficción de las intervenciones del director de orquesta frente a la orquesta en la pequeña pantalla. Se ha empleado una metodología cualitativa y dos instrumentos para la recogida de datos: una ficha de registro sobre los datos técnicos fílmicos de las escenas donde interviene el director y un cuestionario destinado a directores. Los resultados muestran que en las actitudes del director en la serie existe más ficción que realidad. Entre las similitudes halladas entre las acciones del director de la pequeña pantalla y los participantes de este estudio coinciden en saludar a los músicos al comienzo del ensayo, felicitar, bromear, tararear pasajes o emplear metáforas.

Mozart in the Jungle (2014-2018) is a television series whose plot takes place in the context of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Rodrigo de Sousa, inspired by Gustavo Dudamel. This study aims to determine the degree of reality or fiction of the interventions of the conductor in front of the orchestra on the small screen. A qualitative methodology and two data collection instruments have been used: a record sheet on the film technical data of the scenes where the director intervenes and a questionnaire for directors. The results show that in the director’s attitudes in the series there is more fiction than reality. Among the similarities found between the actions of the director of the small screen and the participants of this study, they coincide in greeting the musicians at the beginning of the rehearsal, congratulating, joking, humming passages, or using metaphors.
