La autoridad del maestro en el aula para la construcción de la ciudadanía

Abstract

La autoridad del maestro ya no descansa exclusivamente en la escuela, sino que debe ser construida por el profesor y reconocida por los estudiantes. En base a este presupuesto, los objetivos del estudio son 1) determinar los rasgos que caracterizan la autoridad de los profesores, desde la perspectiva de los estudiantes españoles, 2) identificar qué tipo de comportamientos generan estos rasgos en los alumnos y 3) analizar las posibles relaciones entre la autoridad docente y la formación para la ciudadanía. En el estudio se utiliza el cuestionario Autoridad Docente y Convivencia, diseñado y validado por el Grupo de Investigación sobre Indisciplina y Violencia en la Educación. La muestra estuvo constituida por 738 alumnos. Las dimensiones que se analizan son: 1) Competencia docente: dominio del tema y metodología, buena formación docente, aptitud 2) Comportamiento ejemplar 3) Personalidad y 4) Actitud. Los estudiantes destacan de sus profesores, como rasgos de autoridad, su actitud (sabe relacionarse con los estudiantes, participa en actividades y no es excluyente, se interesa por cada estudiante, busca la armonía y el trato personal con el estudiante). La autoridad no es una cualidad intrínseca del sujeto, surge de la relación social entre el maestro y el alumno. Hacer que los estudiantes “obedezcan” es importante para el clima escolar, el desempeño académico y para la convivencia y la ciudadanía.

The authority of the teacher is no longer exclusively given in the school, but must be built by the teacher and recognized by the students. Based on this budget, the objectives of the study are 1) to determine the traits that characterize the authority of teachers, from the perspective of Spanish students, 2) to identify what kind of behaviors these traits generate in students and 3) to analyze the possible relations between the teaching authority and training for citizenship. The study uses the questionnaire Teaching Authority and Coexistence, designed and validated by the Research Group on Indiscipline and Violence in Education. The sample consisted of 738 students. The dimensions that are analyzed are: 1) Teaching competence: mastery of subject and methodology, good teacher training, aptitude 2) Exemplary behavior 3) Personality and 4) Attitude. Students emphasize their attitude as teachers of authority, their attitude (they know how to relate to students, participate in activities and are not exclusive, take an interest in each student, seek harmony and personal contact with the student). Authority is not an intrinsic quality of the subject, arises from the social relationship between the teacher and the student. Making students “obey” is important for the school climate, academic performance and for coexistence and citizenship.
