Anàlisi sociolingüística de la toponímia oficial de la ciutat d’Alacant

Abstract

L’onomàstica, i en concret la toponímia, permet una gran varietat d’aproximacions, una de les quals és la sociolingüística. Tot i el trencament de la transmissió del valencià a la ciutat i la subsegüent substitució lingüística pel castellà, la toponímia ha romàs en bastants casos en valencià, que a través del castellà són deturpats, adaptats o traduïts per a ajustar-se al nou context lingüístic en castellà de la ciutat. Analitzem les característiques lingüístiques i sociolingüístiques dels topònims i els situem en la història de la substitució lingüística a la ciutat.

The field of onomastics, and particularly the field of toponymy within it, can be studied using a wide range of approaches, one of which is the sociolinguistic approach. Despite the interruption of familial transmission of Valencian in the city of Alacant and the following linguistic replacement by Spanish, the toponyms has remained in many cases in Valencian; then it is modified, adapted or translated via Spanish to adjust for the new Spanish linguistic context of the city. We will analyze the linguistic and sociolinguistic characteristics of toponyms and we will place them in the history of linguistic replacement in the city.
