| From the entry into force of the Law on the wetlands, lagoons and marshes of 24 July 1918, better known as the “Cambó Law”, the wetlands of the spanish geography would receive a unitary treatment with the aim of establishing common and general rules on draining practices applicable to both continental and coastal wetlands. The new legislation did not come to complete and complement the nineteenth-century water legislation, but rather to reform some of its provisions which, in terms of drying out, were clearly insufficient and ineffective in resolving the health and hygiene problems and the lack of use of these unique natural spaces in Spain. |
