La Comisión Provincial de Monumentos de Alicante (1844-1964). Un análisis de sus actuaciones a través de la prensa histórica

Abstract

Las Comisiones Provinciales de Monumentos de España fueron las primeras instituciones destinadas a la gestión del patrimonio histórico en nuestro país. Mediante su conservación y protección, se pretendió llevar a cabo un control exhaustivo de los bienes que se habían liberado tras la Desamortización de Mendizábal. En la provincia de Alicante esta institución desarrolló varias líneas de actuación a lo largo de su siglo y medio de vida, y muchas de ellas se reflejaron en la prensa del momento, y por lo tanto, en la opinión pública de la sociedad alicantina. El presente artículo pretende mostrar el alcance que tuvieron las gestiones de la institución a través de su reflejo en la prensa.

The Provincial Commissions of Monuments of Spain were the first institutions destined to the management of the historical heritage in our country. Through their conservation and protection, the objective was to carry out an exhaustive control of the objects that had been released after the Disentailment of Mendizábal. In the province of Alicante this institution developed several lines of action throughout its century and a half of life, and many of them were reflected in the press of the time, and therefore in the public opinion of Alicante society. This article aims to explain the impact of the institution’s actions through their reflection in the press.
