El compromís artístic de Joan Commeleran amb Catalunya durant la guerra civil (1936-1939)

Abstract

Commeleran és un dels nombrosos artistes plàstics catalans oblidats per la tradició acadèmica. El seu compromís artístic amb Catalunya durant la guerra civil encara no ha rebut el reconeixement que mereix. Els seus dibuixos constitueixen una visió vigorosa i personal del temps viscut, motiu pel qual li dediquem el present article. L’objectiu és recuperar i donar a conèixer les seues creacions artístiques més significatives dels temps de guerra; perquè són una documentació gràfica de les vivències de les persones no combatents durant la guerra a Catalunya, d’algunes activitats culturals organitzades per la Generalitat de Catalunya i de la pràctica per part dels catòlics d’un intimisme religiós en la rereguarda republicana.

Commeleran is one of the numerous Catalan plastic artists forgotten by the academic tradition. His artistic commitment to Catalonia during the civil war still has not received the recognition he deserves. His drawings constitute a vigorous and personal vision of the time lived, which is why we dedicate this article to him. The objective is to recover and publicize his most significant artistic creations of war times; because they are a graphic documentation of the experiences of non-combatants during the war in Catalonia, of some cultural activities organized by the Generalitat of Catalonia and of the practice for Catholics of religious intimacy in the republican rearguard.
